Relaxing Songs Playlist

I don't know about you, but music takes up a huge part of my heart. I rarely go a day without listening to the radio, Spotify, or SoundCloud, and I'm forever annoying my loved ones with the amount of times I just belt out into song!

Having said that, I don't really consider myself to gravitate towards a particular genre. I like to listen to anything from hip hop, to musical soundtracks to rap.

However, today I'm going to be sharing some of my favourite relaxing songs with you all. I have a couple of playlists on my Spotify, and every single song on there leaves me feeling at ease, and comforted in some sort of strange way. If any of you enjoy this post, then let me know and I'll be sure to do more of them in the future!

Starting with an absolute classic, Yours by Ella Henderson is a perfect addition to any relaxing playlist. If you're ever in a reflective mood, or if you're just about to go to sleep, you should definitely listen to it, because you'll instantly feel soothed. The lyrics are so beautiful, and meaningful, and Ella's vocals are just out of this world, to be honest. You'll end up feeling all the feels, and that's one of the key things that I look for in a song!

Another track that I can't get enough of is sung by none other than Ed Sheeran. Even though it's a fairly old song, Tenerife Sea is unbelievable. Surprisingly, it's not actually about Tenerife, hence the title, but it's actually a very romantic, summery song. Ed is notorious for the captivating love songs that he writes, and he didn't disappoint with this one, as I'm still loving it so many years later!

Next up is the acoustic version of Latch by Sam Smith. All I can say is wow. Wow, wow, wow. As you can tell, love songs are probably my favourite out of the bunch. Not because I'm in a really romantic relationship, but because it just captures my heart, and my attention, and makes me feel really emotional. I know all of the lyrics, and I could easily have this on repeat until I fall asleep to it. It's like a lullaby - honestly!

Finally, for this playlist, I can't recommend When You Love Someone by James TW enough. I'd never really heard of him before hearing this song, but a lot of people have been finding out about it recently, and loving it just as much as I do. This one is also about love, but in more of a family approach. It's essentially about when parents fall out of love, and families fall apart, because sometimes separation is for the best to keep the peace. James' other songs are also worth giving a listen, as hes recently released a new one called Please Keep Loving Me

These are 4 of my favourite tunes to put in a relaxing songs playlist, as all them are in the ones that I have! I'm more than happy to do another part to this if any of you want me to, but I could also do it on different genres too if that's something you're interested in.

Let me know what you think, and if you like/listen to any of the songs mentioned!

Lots of love always,

Recent Music Discoveries

If any of you know me personally, then you will be very much aware of my varying music taste. I literally could listen to, and fall in love with anything from pop, to dance floor, to indie, to rap - it literally differs that much, I'm not even joking! I am constantly on the lookout for new songs to listen to, and sing along to when I'm bored, so I thought today would be the perfect chance to introduce a new element of my life into my blog, seeing as music is such a huge part of me that I love very much. Here are some of my recent music discoveries...

Adele 'Hello' - How would any music post be acceptable without having Adele's new single as the top favourite? I mean, I thought I'd always had a love for Adele, ever since I heard her song 'Chasing Pavements', way back in 2008, but ever since this new track has come out, I've fallen in love with her, and her music all over again. Everyone has been going absolutely crazy over it, and there are so many covers already, but I can completely understand why everyone is so head over heels. There is honestly not a single fault with it. The lyrics, the video, the message, the melody - everything is just perfect. I've had it constantly on repeat ever since it was released, and you can often catch me belting it out at whatever chance I may get. I wouldn't say I was obsessed though.. well, maybe a little!

The 1975 'Me' - Although this is quite an old song by a couple of years, I have only recently discovered it (hence why it's in my recent music discoveries post.. obviously!), but it's really too good to miss out on! I generally love the 1975 as a band in general, but I find that their older songs are better, and more catchy. This one is on my spotify playlist, as I tend to listen to my most loved through there, so you can check it out if you wish, by going onto spotify, either through the app, or the website, and typing in my name, which is 'jade_millard'. I always feel like I can sing along to any songs by this incredibly cool band, but I find this particular track the most catchy! The beat is one that you can easily get into, and honestly, everything about this particular song is just a work of art. As I say, it's a couple of years old, but that doesn't mean anything really, does it?

Jamie Lawson 'Wasn't Expecting That' - Another insanely talented musician is none other than Jamie Lawson. Now, some of you may be slightly unaware of who he is, and I'll have to admit, I was up until a couple of weeks ago too, so don't you worry. In a nutshell, he is a British singer-songwriter, and musician, who is quite new to the music scene, but he has released a couple of songs in the past, and since rereleased this particular song that I'm going to be discussing, as well as bringing out some new ones. 'Wasn't Expecting That' is one of them really beautifully written, created songs that makes you feel calm, and content at the same time. It's quite a romantic one at that, but who doesn't love a good ole romantic sing-song, eh? Everything fits together perfectly, and he's got an incredibly soothing voice, in my opinion! I have his playlist saved on spotify, so if I find anymore tracks that I like, then I shall keep you all informed. Have you heard of Jamie Lawson before?

Ed Sheeran 'Tenerife Sea' - Okay, so one of my favourite singers, and musicians in the entire world is Ed Sheeran. His voice, videos, and performances are flawless, literally. It was incredibly difficult for me to pick just one song that was my favourite, but I have this one on my spotify playlist, and so I thought that it would include it, although I could have so easily picked any of his songs. This is one of those songs that makes me feel so calm, and at peace, because of the lyrics, the melody, and the general vibe I get whenever I listen to it. Once again, it's a couple of years old, but I still love it just as much. I also find it a special song, as I used to go to Tenerife all the time when I was younger, and so it holds an extra special place in my heart, as lame as that may sound to some of you.

Justin Bieber 'Sorry' - This next discovery is probably going to be quite a controversial one. Here's the thing - you either love Justin Bieber, or you don't. I guess he's like marmite in a way? Weird comparison, I know, but that's the only love/hate thing that comes to mind right now. Now, I hate marmite, and I could never imagine myself loving it (trust me, there is a reason as to why I'm saying this), and I used to be the opposite with Justin. When his song 'One Time' came out, back in 2009, I fell in love with him, literally. I remember being in my grandparents living room, going crazy, and maybe even crying, and jumping about to the video, screaming that I loved him, and he was so hot. Yes.. I know. That's what my little 8 year old self got up to in her free time. What a wild child I was.
Anyway, I really loved him back then, right when I first found out about him, and pretty much everyone I went to school with was obsessing over him, and I didn't quite get to the 'obsessive stage', but I got pretty close. Then I started hating him massively, and I'd cry, or go mental if I heard his songs (not in a good way, believe me...), and now since hearing his new single 'Sorry', as guilty as I may feel, I kinda love it. It's one of them tunes that you can just sing, and dance along to, and I mean, how can you not love a good dance track?

MNEK 'Never Forget You' - Oh. My. God. Too much love for this song. Let's all just take a moment of appreciation, shall we? The beginning of the song has some really cute lyrics, and incredible vocals, and then it gradually gets into more of a dance track, with a really catchy beat, and it's honestly so easy to get into. It's catchy, cool, edgy, meaningful, and fun all at the same time. What more can I say really? It's the perfect song if you like something that has a lot of meaning, yet a lot of fun at the same time. I'd never heard of MNEK previously, but he's an incredible vocalist, and teaming up with Zara Larsson in this track was a brilliant choice, honestly. Just go, and give it a listen, but don't blame me if you fall in love!

That's all I'm going to be talking about today, but as it's music, I could genuinely go on about it for hours on end. Do you have any music recommendations that you have been loving? Let me know in the comments below, and I'll be sure to check them out!

Lots of love,

Jade x

Lifestyle|| Current Music Picks

Music is such a huge part of my life. I'm obsessed with it and I listen to it all of the time, whether I'm bored, upset, angry, lonely, happy, or any other emotion. These are a few of my favourite songs and artists as of late.

Sam Smith
Sam Smith's music touches me every time. I love every one of his songs and I often find myself listening to them constantly, whatever my mood may be. He is such a talented songwriter and he has one of the most captivating yet emotional male voices I have ever heard. Lately, I've been particularly loving 'Lay Me Down' and I'm usually quick to belt it out, as I feel the lyrics are so deep & meaningful. I would highly recommend his music to anyone that loves a bit of an emotional song!

Ed Sheeran
I've loved Ed ever since I can remember. I first heard him on a car journey with my mum in 2011 singing 'The A Team' and I thought it was truly one of the best songs I'd ever heard. I constantly have his songs on repeat and he's done collaborations with a few other artists, such as Taylor Swift, Wiley & Dot Rotten, all which had been just as incredible. I love every single song he's written and I think he's just flawless as an artist. I particularly enjoy listening to his album 'X' lately and I listen to all the songs.

The Weeknd
One of my favourite alternative artists is The Weeknd. All of his songs are original and unique, which makes them really interesting to listen to. One of my recent favourites from him is 'Earned It', which is also featured in the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" soundtrack. I find it really catchy and easy to get into. He is a really talented man and I would suggest listening to some of his songs.

Ella Henderson
One of my favourite female singer-songwriter's is Ella Henderson. She's a creator and producer of pop music and all her songs are equally as uplifting. My favourite song by her is 'Yours' as there is so much deep emotion to it and the lyrics have a true meaning and a real story behind them which is very relatable for many people too. Every one of her songs makes me feel something and that is one of the reasons why I love her so much.

James Bay
I've recently come across this male singer through hearing about him from various different people. He's a creator of Indie pop/soul/alternative rock music and he's like a breath of fresh air for me. He's something different to enjoy and I find his music incredibly captivating. His voice is one of the strongest and best male voices I've heard in a long while. A favourite of his has to be 'Let It Go', which is a song that has an acoustic twist throughout and I find it very calming and intriguing to listen to the different tones and pitches. If you haven't already heard of him, please search his YT.

Bastille
This is the sort of style of music that makes me happy all the time I listen to it. It's incredibly upbeat and it makes you want to get out of your seat and jump about, literally. The lead singer Dan has an absolutely amazing voice and I really like this genre of English indie-rock! I would recommend it.
