How To Pick The Perfect Piece Of Statement Jewellery Every Time

A great piece of jewellery can really take an outfit to the next level if you know how to style it properly. Statement pieces are bold pieces of jewellery that you can match with an outfit to really make it pop, but if you don’t wear it right, it might make the wrong statement. There’s a lot more to wearing statement jewellery than people realize. It’s not just a case of throwing on a chunky necklace with any old outfit. You need to think carefully about the outfit as a whole and find a piece of jewellery that accentuates all of its best features. If you’re a bit lost when you’re trying to wear statement jewellery, here are a few tips to help you get it right every time...

Less Is More

This is a fairly good tip when it comes to fashion in general but it’s especially important when you’re wearing statement jewellery. These are big pieces that take over the outfit and if you wear too much, you’re going to end up with a cluttered outfit that doesn’t look great. Statement jewellery draws attention to a certain part of the outfit so when you’re trying to decide on a piece to wear, consider the best features of the outfit and highlight them. As a general rule, you want to pick just one piece of statement jewellery, or maybe 2 at a push. If you’re wearing any other accessories, they need to be a lot more subtle.

Match It To The Style Of The Outfit

It’s essential that you’re matching the style of the jewellery to the style of the outfit. For example, if you’re going to wear boho jewellery, it’s only going to look good if you’re wearing a boho outfit as well. If you try to match a pair of big feather earrings with a simple black dress, it’s going to look odd.

The only possible exception to this rule is vintage jewellery. In some cases, you can match vintage jewellery with a modern style and get good results. However, you’ve got to be careful. First off, you need to make sure that you’re getting genuine vintage jewellery from specialist companies like Yafa Signed Jewels instead of the modern imitation vintage stuff. It’s also important that you know which styles blend well and which don’t. If we go back to our earlier example of a plain black dress, an ornate 1950’s necklace can work well, but a chunky, brightly coloured 80’s necklace won’t. The best way to find out which styles work is to just experiment with it a bit.

Be Careful With Earrings

Choosing the right pair of earrings is harder than you think. They need to frame your face properly so you need to find a style that matches your face shape and enhances your natural features. Earrings can also be a big distraction as well so you’ve got to be careful with anything that is quite long or very bright in colour because they could take away from the rest of your outfit.

Just stick to these basic rules and you’ll be able to pick the perfect piece of statement jewellery every time.
