To A Selection Of Crushes I've Had Before

It goes without saying that this post is inspired by the Netflix original show 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before'. The whole nation has become obsessed with the storyline (as well as a certain Peter Kavisky/Noah Centineo), including myself, but I wanted to do something a little bit different than just the typical review.

I'm 99% sure that I saw a post similar to the one I'm about to write, but I can't for the life of me remember who published it, so in this instance, I can't give any credit, which is so annoying!

Anyway, rather than talking about 5 boys I've loved before (purely because I've only loved one and he's got a couple of posts inspired by him and this one here dedicated to 'us'), I thought I'd talk about 5 of the most significant crushes that I've had in my 17 years of life. I won't be naming names, because that's slightly embarrassing, as well as incredibly irrelevant to all of my readers, but I will be referring to them with initials and talking you through the little story of how I came to get involved with them...

We Need To Talk.

As you may know if you have been reading my blog for a while now, one of my main passions in life is raising awareness for those that are affected, whether directly or indirectly, by mental health.
I have 2 sections on my blog that are dedicated towards it (which you can find here and here) and it's something that I'm very mindful about, because it's had an impact on my personal life and it's an area of work that I'd like to go into at some point in the future.

Two New Poetry Purchases

As someone who is currently in the process of putting together and publishing her own debut poetry collection, it's a given that I want to appreciate the work of other writers too. That's essentially how I came up with the inspiration to follow in their footsteps anyway.

I've made my way through quite a few books now, including the infamous Milk and Honey, (which you can see my review for here) so I thought it would be a nice idea for those of you that are interested for me to do a review on a couple of new ones that I've been dipping in and out of recently.

There are a lot of elements of life that you have to look into improving. It's always a good idea to do what you can to be happy with who you are, because after all, you're stuck with yourself forever, but everyone and everything else may just be temporary. Building up great confidence and self-esteem is really important, and you have to make sure you do as much as you can to be the best possible version of yourself. You need to make sure you think hard about what's involved in beautifying yourself in the way that you feel will make you the most confident. It can be hard these days trying to have a positive self-image, especially as there are so many ways in which we can despair and compare ourselves to celebrity perfection. There are so many things that we require and want as a young person, like the best phone to stay connected, the best outfits to inspire, and the best outings to talk about, but unfortunately, all of these things require money, and it can be a lot to keep up with, especially when you're younger and don't yet have all the necessary means as someone older might have. Not to worry though, you can still be financially free, but you just need to be motivated enough.

A Day At Hughenden Manor

During every break from Sixth Form, I like to spend some time with my Aunt and Uncle. They live near the River Thames and are avid visitors of the National Trust places. I have heard quite a few bloggers, YouTubers and people I follow on Instagram sharing shots of them before and I immediately fell in love with the idea, seeing as we typically visit castles and gardens together anyway.

We thought that as it was the Summer holidays at the time of this visit, it was about time to add Hughenden Manor to the list that already consists of Cliveden and Hever (see accompanying post for Hever here)

Do you like to travel?

Of course you do! Everyone loves feeling the sand between their toes on the beach and the smell of vendor stalls when you’re walking down foreign streets. There’s a lot of novelty in being able to get away from the daily grind, and that’s something everyone should and does forward to.

Going travelling usually means we’re headed away for a good time, but honestly, it’s never quite as clear cut as that. We’re still human beings, even after drinking copious cocktails at a rooftop bar in Miami, and we still have our health and safety to look out for. You might not want to, or you might have pushed these issues to the side, but planning for personal problems whilst you’re away is the best idea for happiness on holiday.

So, here’s a couple of tips and tricks for making sure that you’ve got your suitcase fully packed and loaded for your next trip away. If you’re planning to become a seasoned traveller one day, this is the first step onwards to your new lifestyle!

The UK is a nation which is just waiting to be discovered on a road trip - and since it's such a small country in comparison to others, you don’t have to drive far to get away from the main cities to be surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside. There's something special about exploring a place by car which gives you an incredible sense of freedom. You can stop wherever you would like. You don’t have to be limited to any timetables or schedules, and you have a unique bonding opportunity to connect with whoever you're on the trip with.

Now all you need is an idea of where to go. Well, this is what I aim to provide you with in this blog post. Though there are thousands of possible routes which you could embark upon, I'm going to focus on some of the most famous and memorable here. Any one of these trips would make for a spectacular adventure which will live long in the mind for years to come.

Sometimes A Girl's Gotta Treat Herself! ft. Appleyard London

Generally speaking, the societal view these days is that the men buy the women flowers and you can't love anyone until you love yourself. Quite frankly, I couldn't disagree with this more if I tried.

Today's post is going to be all about the importance of females treating themselves as often as they want and not let these expectations determine their self-worth.
I've only ever received a proper bunch of flowers once in my life and ironically, they were a gift from a guy that I was sort of seeing/sort of not (now's not the time to go into that one!).

However, buying myself this Citrus Coulis bouquet (created with cerise germini, vibrant wow and tara roses with blue agapanthus complemented by foliage) is symbolic of the change that I have seen in myself in recent months and how I only hope to keep improving and doing things to better myself.
If flowers are the sort of thing that you're into, you can check out the Appleyard Flowers website to treat either yourself (like me!) or a loved one. The different sizing options are the classic 'Bijou', which is that particular bouquet's standard price, the 'Chic' size, which is an additional £5, or the same as mine, the 'Lux', which is an extra £10. Overall, this variation is £44.99 with £5.99 P+P!
You really are your own best friend. Nothing and no-one should ever change that.
Flowers can definitely have a significant impact on your mood, whatever time of year it is. If you are used to putting other people first and you don't often dedicate much time to yourself, it can make the world of difference to just order yourself a little treat.
Everything about the whole process is almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face, from picking out your variation to getting the delivery through your door to presenting them in your home. There's such a wide selection of flowers that you can get yourself, depending on your own personal preference.
If you want to take it to the next level and make it even more special, as this sort of occurrence is quite rare, you could do some research into the different meanings of flowers and pick a present based on that. For example, sunflowers often symbolise happiness, good luck and intelligence and germini's are also linked to happiness and cheerfulness. Appleyard have actually done a blog post about the meaning of different coloured roses, which you may find to be an interesting read. I certainly did!

Receiving a delivery off of this company made my entire week. Everything comes in a beautifully packaged, perfectly secure cardboard box and you even get to pick which day you want your order to be delivered on, which is so helpful and definitely appreciated if you're a busy bee or awaiting someone's birthday! They come wrapped around with printed paper and not only do you get a booklet with step-by-step instructions on how to care for your flowers, but you also get special food for them, which is just a bonus!
I really couldn't recommend this company enough. Both my Mum and I decided that we should display the beautiful bouquet in the living room, so that everyone can see them and appreciate them to make sure they are valued for as long as they last. It's no surprise that a lot of people, bloggers and social media influencers especially, are so keen to make their own purchases!

It's also worth mentioning that some residents in London can receive same day delivery, but in the UK, you can get next day if you make a purchase before or up to 7:30pm.

What do you think about women treating themselves? Will you be making a purchase from Appleyard London?

Lots of love always,

4 Ways To Wear Boho Jewellery

Boho, a shortened version of bohemian, is a lifestyle related to having a free spirit, a peaceful mind and being an individual rather than following the crowds. It's a way of life that attracts many people, as they want to get away from the rate race we live in today. It even has its own fashion trends, which usually include lots of fringe and tassels. As they are often nature-oriented, many of the prints and accessories, such as jewellery, have animal or plant designs included in them.

Boho Necklaces

We generally think of fringe as being on the edge of fashionable garments or being used as a decoration on bags and they are usually made from threads, suede or leather. Fringed necklaces are simply silver, gold or coloured strips that can be any length you want. Long fringed necklaces can provide a modern look for the perfect boho style.

More simplistic necklaces, which are often worn several at a time, can be a great add-on to any boho outfit. Chokers are a popular boho trend too. Often made from shells, you can collect them from the beach and make the choker yourself, and maybe a bracelet to match.

Boho Earrings

Earrings can be styled to suit whatever you are wearing. Tasseled earrings are a favourite boho option. Coloured segment rings and piercing rings with crystals are also popular choices for daith piercing online stores having a whole array of earrings to pick from. Earrings can be the finishing touch that is needed to make your attire look boho and classy at the same time. I don't actually have my daith pierced as of yet, but I think it looks really edgy and unique and it's also supposed to help with migraines, so it's pretty as well as being practical!

Boho Rings

One of the good things about boho fashion is that you don't have to search for things that match. If anything you wear compliments something else, that's great, but it really doesn't matter too much if that's not the case.

This makes it very easy to accessorise your hands. Lots of rings and bracelets all add to the gypsy-inspired boho look. In true gypsy tradition, pieces are picked up from where they happen to be travelling, and it's not unusual for them to be wearing jewellery from several different parts of the world.

Don’t forget, when the weather is good and you're on the beach or wearing flip-flops and sandals quite often during the Summer months, you could go a little more extreme and style up the look with some toe rings.

Boho Ankle Bracelets

It's not out of the ordinary to see fine chains on women’s ankles but to create your boho style the ankle bracelets need to be bigger and bolder, creating a statement about the life that you have chosen to lead.

Accessorise your ankle with an authentic and unique boho style bracelet and you won't fail to catch people’s attention.

The Origins Of Boho Style

It's worth noting that there are varying opinions on this. The main two theories being that it's gypsy-inspired and the other that it's leftover from the days of the hippies and flower people. However, the origins of boho style don't really matter when you're just trying to create the look for yourself. What matters more is that you're comfortable and enjoy wearing the many variations that are around for you to choose from.

What Photography Means To Me

In my opinion, every single person on this planet has some sort of hobby or passion. A lot of them will be artistic of some description, because through that type of form, you can express your emotions and create something extraordinary at the same time, but of course, there's plenty of other types out there too.

For me, my passion has always been writing, but in recent years, photography has become one too.
