Sharing A Secret Talent..?

We're only in February at the moment, but it's becoming increasingly clear to me (and probably to all of you by now as well) that I'm going to have a lot of things happening this year. Some of them are huge and incredibly exciting, others are smaller, yet just as much of a big deal to me.

Something that I discovered way back when was that reading and writing are two of the things that I love to do the most. I've always been a massive bookworm and if you'd spoken to me when I was 10 years old (or even younger) about Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy, I guarantee I would have loved you forever.

However, as much as I'd absolutely love to write a book, that's not actually what I'm going to be talking about today.

In March 2013, I was sat in one of my Citizenship classes and from what I can remember, we were told to write a poem based on a certain topic. Now, seeing as it's close to 4 years ago, I can't quite remember all of the details, but anyway, I essentially wrote a poem about the absence of my dad. I'd never even dabbled in the world of poetry before that and I suppose that piece of writing switched on a lightbulb in my 12 year old brain.

For the past 3 and a half, nearly 4 years, I've actually been posting poetry and pieces of writing on a private Instagram account. Year 7 and 8 were two of the toughest years of my life to date, so whatever I was feeling, I'd write it down in a diary and I'd create poems out of those emotions to share on my account anonymously.

Throughout the years, I've had different situations to deal with and every time a particularly difficult one came about that I wasn't too sure how to handle, I'd let all those feelings out through my poetry. Nobody in my personal life at the time knew about it and even to this day, I still have under 100 followers - and yes, it's still private!

If I look back to when I first started posting, I can clearly see the immense improvement that I have made since then. My vocabulary and the way that I phrase things is 10 times better and I also understand myself and my emotions a lot more, so I can describe them in a way that other people may be more likely to relate to.

The whole purpose of me writing this post is to tell you all that I want to start sharing my work with you. 2016 was the year that I gradually began opening up here on my blog, but 2017 is going to be the year that I don't shy away from sharing my work, whether that be in regards to my upcoming photography business, my poetry, my school achievements or anything else.

I write for 2 magazines now, one called Love from.., which is a physical printed copy that comes out every March 1st and September 1st and also Kiloran, which is purely a blog and online magazine for now. I've written for Love from... once already and I've just finished the next 2 articles for the upcoming Spring/Summer issue and I've also just written my first poetic piece for the fourth issue of Kiloran, focussing on the theme of 'the past', which is going to be released tomorrow! It's all very exciting stuff, believe me.

Once my piece has actually been released on the Kiloran website, I'll be sharing it on here, but I want to wait until after, so that it's giving you guys something to look forward to and it's keeping the suspense going a little bit!

If you would be interested in me making my poetry account open to the public, then let me know and if quite a few people say so, I'll definitely consider it!

There's a few things that I'm working on at the moment and so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled, because I can assure you that this year is going to be an extremely exciting one.

Lots of love always,
