How To Style: A Denim Jacket

Day Time Outfit:

Crop Top / New Look
Skater Skirt / New Look
Denim Jacket / New Look
Converse / Office
Necklace / New Look
Rings - Coconut Lane (mainly)

Evening Outfit:

Midi Dress / New Look

I'm aware that about 90% of my wardrobe is New Look, but that's only because it's quite literally my favourite shop and it's the one that I feel most represents my style, so I think I can be excused for that! I'm working on implementing pieces from other shops into my outfit posts though, which means that hopefully there will be more of a variety in the future to help spruce things up a little bit. As much as I love New Look, buying things from the same shop over and over again to feature on my blog can get slightly monotonous once you've been doing it for a while - I must admit!

Seeing as it's now July, summery outfit posts are hopefully going to be more of a regular occurrence here on Simply Jadey. I've always enjoyed outfit posts, but the weather certainly isn't the best in the UK, as I'm pretty sure most of you are aware of, which would explain why they aren't that consistent. If the sun doesn't make an appearance, then I'd rather not prance about in my garden with nothing but a crop top and a skater skirt on!

Today, I thought I'd share with you 2 different outfits with the main feature being a denim jacket. A denim jacket is an absolute staple in my summer wardrobe, because I really don't think that you can go wrong if you have one. You can find them anywhere, but I got mine quite a few years ago in a darker denim wash - although there are plenty of different colours available nowadays if you look hard enough! It's lasted me a while, so I might purchase a different one soon, just to switch it up a bit, but they are all such high quality and they are the sort of piece that will definitely carry you through all of the seasons multiple times.

For the daytime outfit, I decided to pair my denim jacket with a plain white crop top (it can actually be worn off the shoulder!), a light blue skater skirt and my silver snakeskin inspired converse. I think that this outfit would be absolutely perfect for this time of year and for everyday wear, but particularly if it's a warm, sunny day where you're out and about on holiday or even just if you're spending time with your loved ones! The jewellery helps to jazz it up a little bit, but the jacket itself is the main accent which pulls the whole look together.

As far as the evening outfit goes, I've stuck to my roots and chosen to wear my absolute favourite midi dress, which is this gorgeous marble/watercolour effect number. I always take it on every holiday with me, because it's probably the dress that I feel the most beautiful in without sounding super vain. I'm quite a curvy girl and so I find dresses like these are actually really flattering for my body shape, because it accentuates my waist and it also makes my bum look quite nice, if I do say so myself!! I think that the colour of it goes really nicely with the dark wash of the denim jacket and I definitely know that I'm going to be getting a lot of wear out of this outfit now I've finally broken up for the summer!

I really hope you have all enjoyed reading this post. Let me know if you have any other fashion ones that you would like to see over the next month or if you have any other ideas in general! I've got more free time on my hands now that I'm away from school for 6 weeks, so I'm sure I'll be spending a large majority of it blogging for all of you lovely lot!
What is your favourite summer piece at the moment? Do you love denim jackets as much as I do?

Lots of love always,

Jade xo
