10 Things To Do In Summer / Collab

Hey to all of you beautiful people! I'm bringing you another collab today with the fabulous Morgan from Just Morgs - eeek, how exciting! She is honestly one of the loveliest, sweetest girls. We became blogging friends through various Twitter chats that we both take part in and I'm so glad that we did in fact get talking, because planning this collab was so much fun! We thought that we would both do Summer themed blog posts, seeing as Morgan has already broken up from school (lucky her!!) and I break up this Friday (woo hoo!), so it only seemed appropriate, right? She's already put up her post, which is all about her "Summer Beauty Picks", so make sure that you go and give that a read after! I'm going to be discussing with you "10 Things To Do In Summer", because if you're anything like me, you lack motivation and inspiration halfway through August, which is never a good thing, hence why I'm going to be helping you out today! Here's to a wonderful, fun packed Summer for all of us!

1. Get some fresh air - Now, this may sound like a pretty obvious one, but within our generation, we spend too much time cooped up inside our bedrooms with our phones glued to our hands. During the moment, we don't realise how much we're actually missing out on! If we just step outside, even for a couple of minutes a day to get some fresh air, it really can have such a massive impact on us. There's the option of going on an evening walk with your family, going hiking or exploring if you're holidaying somewhere new, sitting out in your back garden to catch some rays - the list is endless! Stepping outside at every opportunity you can really will make a difference to your mood, your general wellbeing and also your life. Give it a go. See how energised you will feel after.

2. Explore new places as often as you can - This is something that I'm hoping to do quite a lot over the course of my Summer holidays. For the past few years, I've just been going back to the same park in my area, day after day. As great as it is, there's more to life and more to the world than just that one park! I'm hoping to explore new places, find new beaches that I love, discover shops that I've never had the chance to look in before and capture pictures of scenery that seems too beautiful to even exist. Don't just stay stuck in the same town or village for the rest of your life. There's a whole world out there waiting to be discovered. Remember - the world really is your oyster.

3. Spend time with your friends and family - All too often, we can forget those who are most important to us. We neglect our loved ones, because we get so wrapped up within our day-to-day life that we don't even give them a second thought when it comes to making plans. When the Summer rolls away, there really aren't any excuses that you could possibly use anymore, so stop trying to make them! Even if you just go out for the day to have lunch and a natter with your sister or your best friend. You're still spending time with them and in the long run, you will both appreciate it more than you think. Moments and memories are precious. One day, you'll look back and wonder where the days went by. Make sure that you spent them with the people that you love and care about the most.

4. Listen to some new music - I recently put up a post about the sort of music that I'm going to be listening to this Summer, because I've found quite a few, new favourites and I feel like everyone just has to love music - am I right? If you want to check out the post for some inspiration, then feel free to do so. It's called the "Sounds Of Summer" and it was yet another collab with one of my lovely friends called Erin! Music is one of my favourite things in the entire world and I don't go a day without listening to if, if I'm honest. There's always room to find new artists as well, so don't fret if you're feeling a little lost for inspiration at the moment! I've recently just discovered Catfish and the Bottlemen, who are a rock band, originally from Wales and also Halsey, who is an American singer/songwriter from Washington. My music taste is incredibly varied, but as long as there's a strong beat and meaningful lyrics, then I'm pretty much sucked in straight away! You can listen to music on long car journeys with the roof down and the windows open, days out with your best friend, holidays whilst your sunning yourself by the pool or even whilst you're going on an evening stroll with your family. Whenever I am, even if I'm just in bed, there's always time for me to listen to some of my favourite songs.

5. Lose yourself in a new book or a magazine - If you're anything like me, then you love getting lost in a gripping young adult novel or a magazine filled to the brim with pretty pictures and gossip. Well, that's what I like to do anyway. Reading is always therapeutic and it's something that I usually tend to do if I have some spare time on my hands, or if I'm generally feeling a little bit bored. I'm hopefully going to be introducing quite a few book reviews onto my blog over the next few months, so you'll be able to have a read of some of my personal favourites! One that many people love is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. It also makes me love it even more, because the story is centred around reading and music! If you want to delve deep into the lives of 2 teenagers, whilst they create their very own love story, then I'm pretty sure you'll fall head over heels with this novel (See what I did there? Head over heels? It's a love story? No..? Oh well!). Anyway, whether it's a magazine or a book, reading is always the perfect choice for those lazy Summer days!

6. Make the most of the sun - Being from the UK, I'm not really used to the sun, because very rarely does it actually make an appearance, even when it's supposed to be "Summer". However, when we do get the occasional day of warmth, we try to make the most of it, as we never know when it will come back again! Even if it's just sitting in the garden with an ice-lolly for half an hour, you can't let the opportunity willingly slip from your grip! Until you're out in it, you don't realise how happy the sun can actually make you. Even when I just sat out for a little while with my sister this afternoon, it made me feel 10 times better!

7. Have a picnic - This idea stemmed from both Zoella's DIY Picnic Party video and the blog post that went alongside it. As soon as I had watched the video and read the blog post, I quickly messaged two of my best girl friends in the hope that they would want to recreate the picnic during the Summer holidays! I'll do a blog post on it if it still goes ahead, but we hope to make it very much a DIY Tumblr inspired day in my back garden. There were talks of us wearing flower crowns, making our own fruit popsicles, decking out the grass with candles, fairy lights, blankets and cushions and also baking our very own treats from Tanya Bakes! A picnic is such a simple, but fun event that you can hold with your best friends and it can be in the comfort of your own area too! If you have quite a small garden, or if you would rather branch out, then you can always go to the park or a forest/woods somewhere! I think that would be just as fun anyway!

8. Exercise every so often - To be honest, I'm really not one to talk when it comes to exercise or any physical activity whatsoever. I'm probably one of the laziest people you could ever meet when it comes to exercise! I love walking and I like swimming when I get the chance, but anything else, like running or anything that makes me sweat or ache - no thank you very much. I think I'll pass. Having said that though, exercise is obviously very beneficial and good for you, blah, blah, blah. No, seriously though, it is! It also releases those wonderful things that go by the name of endorphins, which are essentially the chemicals that the brain releases when you exercise, which make you feel all happy and content with life. Oh yes, I'm getting all fancy with big words, such as endorphins. Get. Me. You don't exactly have to run a marathon. Well, unless that floats your boat. Even if you just  walk instead of use the car, do 30 minutes of cardio rather than demolishing the entire tub of Ben & Jerry's in one sitting, or take the stairs rather than the lift. It will make you feel better about yourself and have a positive effect in the long run. I'm sure of it! Now, don't go thinking I'm being all hypocritical here, because I'm going to try my best to become more physically active this summer too - trust me!

9. Go out of your way to meet new people - Everyone loves that feeling of meeting new people - correct? Well, initially it can seem pretty scary, but once you have done it, you feel like you can conquer the world - sometimes anyway. It's always nice to talk to new people and if you're ever going to take a chance, then you may as well do so in the Summer! There's no better time, after all. The amount of day trips and outings you're (hopefully) going to go on means that you're pretty much guaranteed to meet at least 1 person that you didn't know beforehand! So, pluck up the courage, go out of your comfort zone and say hi. Everything starts with the word hi - literally! Just try your best not to be shy during that moment in time (I know how hard it is, trust me), push yourself and say hi. What's the worst that can happen?

10. Find a new series to watch on Netflix - I'm well aware that this post is essentially me talking about how can you make this Summer the best ever, but it wouldn't be a Summer without Netflix, right? Of course, you should be getting out as much as you can, like I've said in all of my previous points, but sometimes it's just good to watch Netflix and chill(Not in that way, you dirty beast!). Whether you're alone or with friends, you can't ever go wrong with binge-watching some of your favourite seasons or re-watching the movie that you love more than life itself. Some of my personal favourites that are available on Netflix are Pretty Little Liars (a classic), Gossip Girl (oh yes, another classic), Clueless, The Best Of Me and Endless Love. I mean, c'mon, who doesn't love Netflix nowadays in this generation that we're growing up in? Let me know what some of your faves are!

So, that's it for today folks! I really hope you enjoyed reading this post and I look forward to hearing what you all think. Remember to go and give Morgan some love, whilst you're at it too! Can we get her to another blogging milestone soon?

Lots of love always,

Jade xo
