The Truth About You Tag / Collab

This post has been in the pipeline for quite a while now, and that's one of the reasons as to why I'm so excited to finally be posting it! Another reason is, of course, because it's a collaboration with a gorgeous girl, who's quickly become one of my very good blogging friends! I'm talking about the lovely Leonie from PrettyRainClouds, if you hadn't already heard through talk on both of our social media sites! Whilst you're at it, you should definitely give her a cheeky, little follow. Well, I know I would if I were you! If you do want to make her day, as it would be rude not to, you can go and do so here.

How To Cope On A Bad Day / Collab

(Credit goes to Hope for her wonderful photography!)

We all have bad days from time to time. Even those who are always smiling and have a face that is lit up like the suns the whole time. They struggle too, believe me. For those who struggle with a mental illness, it can become even more of a tough time than it is for those who have never experienced any concerns with their mental health before. However, fear no more. Hope & I are here to help you. Please go and check out her post too, because I'm sure it's going to be just as insightful and reassuring as I hope this one will be for you. She's also an absolute angel and it's been a pleasure to talk to her for quite a while now! Anyway, just go and give her blog a read. I'm sure you will love it just as much as I do! So anyway, put down that box of tissues, turn off the melancholic music and breathe. You will be okay.

A Little Q&A

Hi everyone! I've got a little Q&A for you all today. I haven't done one of these in what seems like (and probably is) absolutely ages, so I thought it would be nice if I did one for a change.

I asked on Twitter a while back to see if you had any questions for me and I got a pretty good response, so I'm just going to quite simply answer all of your burning questions!

10 Things To Do In Summer / Collab

Hey to all of you beautiful people! I'm bringing you another collab today with the fabulous Morgan from Just Morgs - eeek, how exciting! She is honestly one of the loveliest, sweetest girls. We became blogging friends through various Twitter chats that we both take part in and I'm so glad that we did in fact get talking, because planning this collab was so much fun! We thought that we would both do Summer themed blog posts, seeing as Morgan has already broken up from school (lucky her!!) and I break up this Friday (woo hoo!), so it only seemed appropriate, right? She's already put up her post, which is all about her "Summer Beauty Picks", so make sure that you go and give that a read after! I'm going to be discussing with you "10 Things To Do In Summer", because if you're anything like me, you lack motivation and inspiration halfway through August, which is never a good thing, hence why I'm going to be helping you out today! Here's to a wonderful, fun packed Summer for all of us!

GOMO - What's It All About?

So, if I'm right in thinking, most of you reading this post right now have probably looked at the title in awe, wondering what in the world 'GOMO' is supposed to mean. Well, that my friends, is what today's post is all about.

The whole concept of 'Going Out More Often' was originally brought about by Eventbrite, which is possibly the largest self-service website, where you're able to plan, organise and manage events, sell tickets to other people and also find various events in your local area that you may wish to go to at some point. The general idea of it is that they are hoping to wipe out 'FOMO', which essentially stands for 'Fear Of Missing Out'. Their aim is to encourage people to spend their money on making memories and experiencing new things, rather than wasting it all on materialistic items that won't last in the long run.

During this day and age, it's far too easy to become cooped up inside, watching episode after episode of Pretty Little Liars, whilst eating buttery popcorn and drinking endless supplies of fizzy coke from your nearest McDonalds takeaway. Trust me, I've been there and done that!

Summer time is quickly rolling in and it doesn't hang about for anybody. Before you know it, the 6 week holiday that you have been waiting for ever since last year has been and gone in a flash and you're left wondering why you achieved so little during that time.

This is where I come in to help you out and act as you're knight in shining armour! Well, okay, more like your blogger with all the bright GOMO ideas, but we can just roll with it anyway..

Dear David Cameron | Teenage Voices Collab

Today's post might be something that you would consider to be a little out of the ordinary, especially coming from a teenage blogger. Why's that, you may ask? Well, it's not everyday that a blogger writes a post aimed at their country's prime minister - or in my case, David Cameron.
One of my very good friends Charlotte and I got into quite the discussion a couple of weeks ago about the things that we feel are the most unfair and out of order in today's society, but in particular, with our generation. Make sure you go on over and check out the lovely Charlotte's post, Vie Avec Charlotte, where she is also going to be writing a letter, which will express her very valid views to David Cameron, also known as the guy who is supposedly in charge of our country. Hopefully you enjoy both of our posts and can agree or relate to at least a couple of the points we have stated!

It's Time For An Update

Hi everyone! It feels like it's been an absolute lifetime since I sat down and updated you all on what's happening with me at the moment. Although I primarily do lifestyle based posts on a weekly basis, I don't ever really talk about the general things that are happening for me and I think that's something I definitely need to work on. Quite a lot has been going on recently that I haven't had the chance to talk about, because although I stick to a blogging schedule and I very rarely miss a post (in fact, I often add extras!), it doesn't mean that I'm not sorting out exciting plans behind the scenes!

Barry M Summer Nail Shades

Barry M Nail Paints | £3.99
The time has finally come for me to do another beauty post. Last month, I wanted to focus purely on lifestyle, as I had a lot of collaboration  posts planed, which meant that my own content was pretty limited, but then again, I do love putting up collabs with my favourite people and so that's something that's going to remain the same throughout the following months. There's just going to be more of a mixture of my own content and collaborative content from now on. I hope you're all okay with that!

If you have been reading my blog for a while now, then you will notice that I did a post back in the Spring about my nail polish picks, which were coincidentally all from Barry M (It wasn't actually that much of a coincidence, but let's just roll with it!). However, I thought that today, I'd do a post focusing on these two, because they are more appropriate for the Summer and I've worn these 2 out of the 4 the most!

The first nail polish that I'm going to be talking about is this gorgeous, bright pink in the shade 'Grapefruit'. This is honestly the prettiest colour for the upcoming months. If you have any holidays planned (unlike me unfortunately - boo!), then I would highly suggest picking this up in your nearest drugstore. It would be the perfect shade for if you're relaxing by the pool or if you're the sort of gal that likes to have a pop of colour on your nails to make a statement, whilst soaking up the sun. I know that next time I'm on holiday, this is going to be the shade that I swear by! Now, I'll let you into a little secret here. I'm not actually the best when it comes to applying nail polish. It usually ends up all streaky or messy and I've been known to drop the entire bottle on my dressing table, so that it spills onto the floor, leaving a wonderful stain that can't be removed. However, this nail polish makes it so much easier for me to apply onto my nails. The brush is quite wide and thick and as someone who has got quite wide nails, I find that it works really well at distributing the colour all over. I usually only do one coat, because I find that it can go quite gloopy and tacky otherwise, but 2 or more coats is definitely doable if that's what you prefer to go for! As it's part of their Gelly Hi Shine range, my do look lovely and glossy when the light hits them and considering the fact that I don't like matte nails myself, this is something that's right up my street. They don't chip that easily either, which means that if you're quite a hands-on person, you should be able to manage and get a good few days wear out before feeling the need to take it all off.

If you're more of a pastel kinda gal, even during the Summer, then I would suggest you go for something a little bit lighter, such as 'Lap of Honour' from the Quick Dry range. If a colour is on the lighter end of the spectrum, then it can often appear streaky or gloopy, as I mentioned earlier, which is something that I'm pretty sure most people, including myself hate. When I first applied this polish in particular, it did appear quite streaky and as though it was barely there, but then once I got more product onto the brush and went over each nail a few times, it was absolutely fine after that. You could try using a base coat and a top coat, which Barry M also do, but I haven't ever tried either of them, so I'm probably not the best person to ask about that kind of thing. I would say that it would probably look better if you applied more than one coat, but then again, surely that can be said for any nail polish? I'm just saying that with shades which aren't quite so bright and vibrant, it may be a better idea, but it's completely up to you! As this is part of the Quick Dry range, I can say that it lives up to the name and it does dry on your nails very quickly. It isn't quite as glossy as the 'Grapefruit' shade, but it isn't matte either, so it works just as well for me!

So, there we have it. Those are my 2 favourite summertime nail shades from Barry M. Overall, I think that Barry M has always been a favourite brand for most people when it comes to the nail polishes that they offer and I certainly haven't been disappointed. They are long-lasting and both of the shades that I picked up are beautiful, especially for this time of year.

Have you tried any nail polishes from Barry M? Which are some of your favourite shades?

Lots of love always,

10 Things I've Learnt Whilst Being A Teenage Blogger | #TTATB

Since the overwhelming response that we received from our first #TTATB post, which went live on the 1st of June, myself and Lauren have decided that we are going to continue featuring these collabs on both of our blogs at the beginning of every month. How lucky are you?! If you haven't already done your research on #TTATB, then where exactly have you been over this past month?
I've got a page on my blog, which gives you all of the information that you will need to get you started and both of us girls also did our own blog posts about it, which you can head on over to read here and here.

So today we're going to be talking about 10 things that we have both learnt whilst being a teenage blogger. We have both been blogging for quite a while now and we thought it would be nice to share our thoughts with you, just in case you were interested or thinking of starting up your own blog someday in the near future. Without further ado, I'm just going to jump straight into it, because I feel like this is going to be quite the ramble!

It's not going to be easy. Blogging is a tricky process, with lots of bumps in the road! - Even though you only see picture perfect snaps on your Twitter and Instagram feeds, it doesn't mean that all bloggers live the ideal life 24/7. There is ultimately going to be perks and downfalls with everything - I guess that's just the way life goes. You may think that people are in it just to work from home, receive all of these luxurious freebies and jet across the Atlantic every month, but that couldn't be further from the truth. You will struggle to find motivation for posts. You will find it difficult to actually write regularly. You may even have fall outs and disagreements with other people in the blogosphere. Luckily, I haven't really experienced many negatives whatsoever as of yet *touch wood*, but trying to balance school, a social life and everything else with a blog isn't always easy, along with trying to find motivation, fresh, original ideas and for some, including myself, a schedule that you can stick to, so you and your readers know when posts should be going up. It's a commitment that you need to be prepared to put time and effort into.

Getting people to actually notice you, particularly because of your age can be really challenging and especially disheartening when you have put so much effort into a post - Carrying on from what I just said about blogging being a tricky process, that also applies to gaining readers, who are genuinely interested in you as a person and what you have to write about. I've written up blog posts before that I couldn't be more proud of and then to see that it didn't receive as much interaction, due to the fact that I simply didn't have as many followers back then, it did kind of upset me a little bit. When you put your heart and soul into something, you want to get feedback and you want to hear what other people think, whether it's constructive criticism or whether it's praise and admiration. Gaining followers can be a very slow process, but that's why you shouldn't be in it for the numbers (there will be more about that later) and you should be a part of the blogosphere, simply because you want to be - nothing else. If you post regular, genuine content, then you will eventually get noticed if you're active on social media and if you make an effort. You can't just go in half-heartedly and expect thousands of followers to magically appear on your Bloglovin' page. You have to strive for success.

You will compare yourself to older bloggers who have been around for longer than you in the blogosphere, but that's totally okay. You do you, boo - During this day and age, we all compare ourselves to those around us. That's just a part of life that we have to accept. Whether it's in regards to appearance, intelligence, lifestyle or even blogging, it can have an equally negative effect on any individual. There will always be someone who you feel in competition with, but that shouldn't be your main focus. You should focus on bettering yourself or in this case, your blog and just ignore what everybody else is doing. It's totally okay for you to admire their creativity and the content of their blog, but you shouldn't feel envious or as though you're not good enough. You should create content that you're proud of and as long as you're proud of it, then that's ultimately all that matters.

The friends you make through blogging aren't just there to talk to about the latest beauty trends. They can be there to talk about life issues too; deeper than what shade of MAC lipstick to purchase next - Some people are led to believe that if you haven't met up in real life then you aren't able to consider yourself as friends with someone else. I can't even begin to stress to you how incorrect this is. I have started speaking to some of my very best friends through the internet and honestly, it's gotten to the point where I would be lost without them. Some of them I have been speaking to for a couple of years and others I have been speaking to for a couple of months, but one thing is for sure - I absolutely adore all of them to bits. Take the #teenageteam for example. Some of us have only known each other for a couple of weeks, yet it feels like it's been years. I know that whilst I can talk to them about MAC lipstick shades and what highlighter is best on the high street, I can also talk to them about boy troubles and whatever else I may be feeling down about. They always pick me up when I'm feeling down and make me laugh 10x harder when I'm already at the cry-laughing stage. I couldn't ask for better girlfriends in my life and for that, I'm eternally grateful.

We all have something that we would consider to be a passion of ours. It may take some time to discover it, but once discovered, we must never let it go - I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks this, but in my opinion, we all have something that saves us from the world; our main hobby, if you will. For me, it's always been reading and writing, ever since I can remember. I'd been reading blogs myself since the age of 9, which is also when I started watching YouTube videos. I never felt that YouTube would be my thing at the time, so I've just stuck to watching other people for now. Who knows, that may change in the future! After plucking up the courage to start my own blog, my life has pretty much changed forever. I have finally found my passion, which involves all of my favourite things into one - reading, writing, photography and helping other people. It really can save you from the outside world, you know. I'm never going to let my blog go now, because as sad as it may seem (if you're a blogger, you will hopefully understand), I've now built up a community for myself, I've grown a lot as a person and I've had some incredible opportunities, which is why I'll forever hold my little blogging baby to my heart. (cringe)

Thank you so much for reading this post! Remember to head on over and give Lauren's post a read and if you don't already follow her on Bloglovin, then do it! Go and do it right now! You will thank me later - trust me!

Lots of love always,
