My Go To Summer Lip Shades // Collab

Today's post is going to be a collab with the gorgeous Mollie. You can check out her blog here or you can follow it here. She's also doing a post on her go to summer lip shades, so you must make sure you go and check it out and give her some love. She's honestly so kind and she's quickly becoming one of my best blogging friends!

Although I have done some similar posts to this before, I personally feel as though you can never have too many lipsticks. Do you feel the same or is it purely a thing that only beauty bloggers understand? Well anyway, I'm going to be talking about my go to summer lip shades today. Even though they are all lipsticks, I have also picked out some lip liner options that you can pair with them, so you won't be stuck for ideas, don't you worry!
I have picked out 4 of my favourite nude options and then another 4 of my favourite pink options, so I'm sure you will find at least 1 shade that you like and may want to try out.

L-R: Soap & Glory 'Super Nude', L'Oreal 'Eva's Nude', Kate Moss '03' and Elizabeth Arden 'Desert Rose'

Let's start off by talking about my favourite nude shades...

Another nude that I absolutely adore is the Kate Moss one in the shade '03'. This is a deeper, nudey brown shade, which is suitable for any skin tone, in my opinion. I don't think that you can go wrong with any nude, despite what particular type it is, but you definitely can't go wrong with this one from Kate Moss' collection! It applies ever so nicely to the lips and I also really like the finish, because it's quite creamy and softening, which is what I tend to go for when wanting to purchase a new lipstick. The packaging is very sleek and sophisticated too, so it will look pretty if you get it out to apply during the day or even if you want to have it on show on your dressing table. I mean, this is Kate Moss we're talking about! The lady is very sleek and sophisticated herself, so she is naturally going to make sure that the collection she brings out reflects that side of her too. I would also suggest applying the Elizabeth Arden 'Bare' Lip Liner under this shade too. Although this is quite a neutral shade and it doesn't have any shimmery, it isn't extremely matte to the point where it makes your lips look dry and flaky. It makes them look supple and glossy, which is another positive point to consider, because nobody likes having crusty lips, do they? How unattractive is that?!

First up is the Soap & Glory 'Super Nude' Lipstick. This was my favourite colour for such a long time and then for some reason, I just completely stopped wearing it. I guess that's what happens when you have an extreme amount of different options - you just forget what you have eventually! Although you don't get as much product as you do with your average lipstick, I do still love it none-the-less. The shade is quite literally your perfect, everyday wearable nude. Well, I guess all 4 of these options are really, but I do have to say that out of all of them, I did go through a stage where I wore this the most. It's incredibly moisturising and it also stays on well throughout the day, which is always a good thing if you're the type of person that doesn't like to constantly reapply your lipstick all of the time. If I were to put this shade on top of any lip liner, it would have to be one from Elizabeth Arden in the shade 'Bare'. They are both really similar shades as it is and so I feel as though they compliment each other perfectly. I understand that not everyone can afford to spend so much money on a lip liner if it's practically the same as the lipstick, but if you are able to or if you ask for it as a gift, then I would definitely suggest doing so!

How many of you have heard of, and love, Eva Longoria? Well, if you're one of those people, then I'm pretty sure you must have heard that she bought out her own lipstick shade, as part of the L'Oreal Collection Privee Range a while ago. It's a range where a few different well-known celebrities decided to create their perfect nude and then allow their fans to purchase them for their local drugstore - how cool is that?! I'm not saying that I'm a huge Eva Longoria fan myself, because if I'm quite honest, I don't even really know what she's all about (please don't kill me..), but I really like this shade anyway. This one in particular is called 'Barely Golden', which, as the name suggests, has a hint of golden shimmer running through it, which I genuinely do think is just absolutely gorgeous. I feel like it's a really sophisticated shade, which would go perfect to finish off a bronzed, sun-kissed look. Keep your eyes peeled, as I may just be featuring it in some more posts to come! I also love the packaging, can I just say? It's so luxurious! I would personally pair this with the Rimmel Lip Liner in 'Tiramisu'. They are both from the drugstore, meaning that they are affordable, so you can buy them together and create the perfect nudey brown lip look to complete that bronze goodness look that some of you (myself included) may be going for during these summer months.

The final nude that I have been loving lately is the Elizabeth Arden 'Desert Rose'. I received this, alongside their 'Bare' Lip Liner from my older sister for my birthday and I just fell in love with the combination ever since! I didn't know if it would particularly suit me at first, but it honestly is the prettiest combination. I genuinely do feel like a goddess when I wear it - I'm not even joking! They are on the pricier side, as far as lipsticks go, but there's no harm in treating yourself every once in a while, is there? This is actually the darkest nude out of all of the 4 that I have chosen, but I think it's just too flattering to not mention. It's got quite a lot of shimmer to it, so if that isn't your cup of tea, then maybe this shade isn't the one for you, but I personally love it, especially at this time of year. It can really finish off a look and no matter how simple or how dramatic you have gone, you can always find a way to make this work! It also goes very nicely with the Rimmel 'Tiramisu' Lip Liner, so if you just want to splash out on this lipstick and then keep it more affordable for the lip liner so you don't break the bank completely, then you'll get pretty much the same exact look anyway, just by splurging a tiny bit less, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Now, it's time to talk about the pink shades that I have been reaching for recently. I would say that as well as the nudes, they are definitely appropriate to wear all year round, but I do like to have a certain set of shades that are better suited towards the winter months and then another set that are better for the summer months and these just so happen to be the ones that I have picked out to wear for the summer months.

I'm going to kick-start this off by talking about yet another Kate Moss lipstick. She really does have a lovely collection by Rimmel, so even if you don't like the shades that I'm speaking up today, you can find some nice shades throughout the rest of the collection anyway, so it might be worth taking a look next time your browsing the aisles in Boots or Superdrug. Anyway, I'm starting to rant again, aren't I? Oops! My sister and I actually have this exact lipstick in the same shade as each other. Surprisingly enough, even though we are both obsessed with makeup, I don't think we really have too many lipsticks that are the exact same shade, but this one is an exception. I've included it under the 'pink' category, but actually, I'd say that it's more of a peachy, coral kinda shade. I usually shy away from shades like this, because I worry that they will wash me out or that I won't be able to apply them properly without smudging them all over my face, but I just bloody love this colour! Once again, as it's a Kate Moss lipstick, it's super moisturising and it stays on the lips for quite a long time without being too drying or flaking away. I don't think that it has any shimmer in it at all really (correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't think that it needs it anyway. If you're going on holiday this summer or if you go out quite a lot, then this would be the absolute perfect pick for you. If I had to convince you to pick up ANY coral colour, then I would definitely say you should get this one - it's only £5.49 as well!!
Rimmel also do a lip liner in the shade 'East End Snob', which would go really well underneath this shade if you want it to last a little longer than it already does throughout the day.

As far as lip crayons go, I was never really a fan of that whole thing when everyone was literally raving about them left, right and centre. I purchased this particular one from Revlon right when all of this hype was going on and don't get me wrong, I did whip it out and wear it a few times, but I just couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Sure, it's easy to apply, because it's precise and it doesn't cause as much mess as a lipstick may do, but the minty taste/scent was kinda off-putting in my opinion and as I've already mentioned, I just forget what lipsticks I have stashed away in my storage, because I have an excessive amount already! Having said that, I recently rediscovered this Revlon Matte Balm in the shade 'Elusive' and I have grown to actually quite like it! It's more of a Barbie kinda pink, so I do think it looks quite flattering on my pale skin, but at the same time, it is on the more daring side of the spectrum, so I get the fact that it may not be the shade for everyone and that's totally okay. It's also matte, which I don't normally like for the summer, but I don't mind it when it comes to this shade and this crayon type formula. I do actually like the fact that it comes in a crayon, because as I said, it makes it easier, more precise and a lot less fuss free! You can quite easily just pull out a mirror and apply it on the go if you need to touch up (which you may not even need to do that regularly at all) and you don't have to worry, because chances are, it will still look amazing, no matter where or how you apply it! I would also put the Rimmel 'East End Snob' Lip Liner under this shade, because I feel like they are both on more of the Barbie sort of scale, so they would go well with complimenting each other and they would create that extra matte look too, because they are both very matte without being all that drying.

The penultimate shade I have to share with you today is my trusty Mac lipstick in the shade 'Bombshell'. I genuinely can't tell you how much I adore this lipstick! I wore it all throughout the Autumn/Winter and I am continuing to love it now that we are well and truly over those seasons. It's such a versatile kinda shade and I would genuinely consider it to be an all-round go to. It's not one of those Mac lipsticks that are highly talked about, which I think is so strange, yet such a shame, hence why I try to talk about it quite a lot in my beauty posts, as I feel like it deserves more recognition! It has some subtle shimmer running through it, which I think is so flattering and it's quite a mid-toned pink, which is also one that would compliment many different skin tones, whether you are very fair or quite dark. The lip liner I would suggest that you wear with this shade is the Mac lip liner in 'Soar' or should I just refer to it as being the one that Kylie Jenner so famously wears when she pairs it with the lipstick in Brave?! I don't actually have Brave myself, but I think that it works ever so nicely with this shade of lipstick and even though the duo are also quite pricey, I think that it's well worth it!

The final shade that I have been loving as of late is the Revlon lip butter in 'Berry Smoothie'. It has occurred to me that it seems to be a common theme in the fact that whenever a new beauty product comes out, I never seem to be as obsessed with it as every else is originally. I tried quite a few of the lip butter shades when they came out what seems like forever ago, but I just didn't like them at all. Maybe I didn't find the shade that worked best for me, but they didn't float my boat whatsoever. I don't know if people still rave about them nowadays, but that's exactly what I'm doing now! This is the deepest pink shade out of all of the ones I have, which could be suggested by the name 'Berry Smoothie' after all. Some people may argue and say that this is more of an autumnal shade, which you would typically see being worn with an all-black or monochrome outfit, but I don't think that's the case. We don't always want to be seen rocking a coral lip in the summer time! Sometimes, it's nice to switch it up and go a little deeper than that. There shouldn't be any rules or regulations when it comes to beauty anyway. This lip butter is particularly moisturising, hence why it's called a lip butter and it has a really pretty sheen to it, which is always something that I like when I find a new lipstick shade, regardless of what time of year it is. I also like the fact that it swivels up and down, because it makes the packaging look really classy and professional, but it doesn't get messy either! I would personally wear it with the 'Soar' lip liner from Mac, because they are both quite deep shades and you can really switch it up and match them two together, no matter what the season is.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and seeing what my go to summer lip shades are! What colours have you been loving recently? Do you have a particular favourite lipstick brand? Let me know in the comments below and make sure to go and have a read of Mollie's post!

Lots of love always,
