Makeup Of The Month: May / Collab

Today's post is a collab with the ever so lovely Eleanor - we are going to be sharing with you our makeup of the month! I shall link her blog at the end of this post, so that you can have a read to see what she has been loving for the month of May.
Recently, I've been going for quite a neutral, peachy look with glossy, nude lips. I feel as though you can definitely wear it like I have, which is perfect for everyday or you can also spice it up to rock it in the evening if that's more your style. Most of the products with the exception of one are all affordable and available to purchase within the drugstore, so it's more than likely that you will be able to get your hands on them if you are wanting to recreate something similar to the look that I have gone for today. If you are interested in finding out what I used on my face to achieve the look I've been opting for throughout the majority of May, then please keep on reading!

Lately, I've been trying out the Collection 'Primed & Ready' Illuminating Primer. Now, I'm not the type of girl that usually wears a primer, because I haven't ever found one that really grabs my attention, but on a whim, I decided to pick this one up and give it a go.
Seeing as I've never really tried a primer properly before, I wasn't entirely sure on what to expect. If I'm honest, I still don't know whether this works, but I enjoy implementing it into my makeup routine none the less. On the packaging, it states that it's a 'reviving & anti-fatigue illuminating primer' and I would say that as far as I'm concerned, that's true. It's a non-greasy consistency, it blends really well and I'm pretty sure it does illuminate my skin a little bit too! If you have tried this primer before, then let me know what your views are.

I'm pretty sure that if you have been reading my blog for quite a while now then you will be sick of hearing me talk about this product, but I guess that just goes to show how much I really do like it. For those of you who don't already know, this is a tinted moisturiser from Dermatologica, which I typically use for my base. It's honestly lasted me ages, which is just as well, because it is on the pricier end of the spectrum! However, having said that, I would go as far as to say it is worth the whole £34.80. Trust me, I gritted my teeth as I said (or should I say typed) that too. I tend to apply a small amount to the back of my hand and then just dab my foundation brush into it and blend it all over my face. It leaves you with a really natural, effortless finish, but it doesn't look as if you have just caked a load of product on, which is always a plus! I honestly wouldn't pick anything over this. If you haven't already tried it out, please do. It's worth all of your money. I pinky promise.

Another product that never fails to impress me is the Seventeen Stay Time Concealer. I use this religiously to cover up my horrendous under eye circles and to pop on any blemishes and trust me when I say that there are a fair few of them to hide away! I guess that's what you expect when you're a hormonal teenager. Oh, the joys. If you struggle with spots like myself, then believe me when I say you need this concealer in your life! It doesn't completely magic them away, but it definitely does reduce the appearance of them and it helps to make them seem less visible without irritating them, which is what I look for when I'm trying to cover mine up. I don't find that it creases either, so if you want to buy a new concealer from the drugstore, then this may be just the right option for you.

In order to achieve that beachy, bronzed effect that I like to go for, I use the blush and bronzer shades from my Sleek 'Face Form' Palette. I used to actually use the highlight when I didn't use the bronzer, but then I stopped using the highlight shade, as I found one that I much preferred (more about that in a minute!). I usually just get my fluffy powder brush from Real Techniques, dust it in the contour shade and suck in my cheeks (you know exactly what I'm talking about, right?) and then I just apply it like that! I don't like to use such a heavy hand, because bronzer easily has the ability of looking a bit too full-on, but if you literally just apply a light dusting, then it really can make you look 10x better! Being a particularly pale girl myself, I find it difficult to actually find a product that allows me to look as though I have been out in the sun without getting incredibly burnt during the process. This palette also comes with the 'Rose Gold' blush, which is one of Sleek's most popular shades, as it has been dubbed as a dupe for the Nars 'Orgasm' blush. I have never tried 'Orgasm' myself, but I'm just going by what other people have said! I always wear this blush without fail and I think it's absolutely perfect! It has a really subtle shimmer and the shade is one that you just can't go wrong with, if I'm completely honest. For only £9.99 for all 3 shades (a bronzer, a highlight and a blush) when the blush itself would be £4.99, you should definitely all go and pick this 3 in 1 up from your local Boots or Superdrug!

Considering the fact that a couple of months ago, I didn't even know what the brand Seventeen had to offer, I have quite literally fallen in love with this product!! I first heard about it through Danielle Carty on YouTube and since I tried it out, I haven't turned back. It has quickly become my go to highlight and I rarely wear a makeup look without adding it in. I really like how there are 4 different shades in it, because it means that I can just swirl my brush around and then just apply it to the tops of my cheekbones, where the sun would normally hit it. I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear this product and I know I'm not the only beauty blogger who adores it either! Mine is in the shade 'Pink Bronze', but they also do one called 'Gold Bronze', so it's up to you as to what one you opt for! I definitely think that you need to at least go and give it a swatch though. I'm certain that you will end up loving it nearly as much as I do.

Can you believe I'm featuring another product from Seventeen? I know, it's insane, right?! I'm not actually going to go into too much detail about this palette, because I have already done so in a review solely dedicated to this, which you can find here, but this is the only set of eyeshadows that I used on my eyes for this particular look. There is a mixture of matte and shimmer shades and I think that there are so many different options when deciding on what colours to go for from this palette, which I just love. You are quite honestly spoilt for choice! Whether you prefer to keep it simple or whether you're the sort of gal that likes to go wild, then you will be able to find a couple of different shades that you like anyway! To create this particular look, I used the shades Gentle Pink and Radiant Gold. I started by applying Gentle Pink all over the lid to act as a neutral base and then I applied Radiant Gold in the crease to warm the whole look up a little bit and make it slightly more shimmery and peachy, as that's what I like to go for during the Summer.

For my eyebrows, Soap & Glory's Brow Archery Pencil is always the one that I find works the best for me. I have the shade suitable for brunette's and I really like using it on a daily basis. I don't always fill my eyebrows in anymore, because I can't always be bothered if I'm completely honest, but if I am going to, then this is the product that I will turn to. It has a pencil on one end, which you can twist up and just fill in your eyebrows directly that way, as if you're literally following the shape of them and colouring through the hairs and then on the one that I have, it has another end which is more of a little brush, which makes your hairs look darker, so I assume it acts as sort of a top layer, but when looking on the website, this product has a brush on the other end, so maybe the one I have is just an older version - I have no idea!! Soap & Glory do offer quite a large variety of eyebrow products anyway, so I'm sure you will be able to find something that you like.

Once I have applied some of my trusty 'Lash Sensational' Mascara from Maybelline, I feel as though my eyes are good to go and ready to face the day! I have quite black, voluminous lashes as it is (well, in my opinion and the opinion of a few others anyway), but a girl can never wear too much mascara! Unless it clumps, that is. I was always that girl that tried and tested a million and one different mascaras, but now I feel as though I have stuck with this one for the majority of this year and so I don't think there will be any looking back to find a new one now! This may just be the one. Watch this space.

Pretty much any lip option would go well with this kind of look, but I do have a personal favourite that I've been loving. I recently discovered the Rimmel Lip Liner in 'Tiramisu' and so I have been testing that out quite a lot to see what I think of it. It's safe to say that I absolutely love it! Unlike the other Rimmel Lip Liner that I've got in 'East End Snob', it's just your average pencil applicator. It doesn't twist up or down - you just take the lid of and apply the pencil directly to your lips, so it's completely fuss free! I know I personally don't really mind how you apply lip liner, but I must say, I do quite like how simple it is to use by just putting it straight on. If you have ever had the Italian dessert Tiramisu, then you will notice that this shade is literally like the top of a Tiramisu. I haven't ever tried it myself, but that's where Google comes in useful, I guess! It's a lovely nudey brown, which can be worn either on it's own or with a similar shade of lipstick over the top.
I actually paired it with the L'Oreal Eva's Nude Lipstick, which I used to wear all the time and since rifling through my lipstick box recently, I came across it again and rediscovered my love. It's moisturising and it makes your lips look really supple and nourished. The duo go really well together as well, but you can definitely pick and choose with how you go about the lip shade!

There we have it guys! This is my finished makeup look that I have been turning to for the month of month. I hope you enjoyed reading it and you found it somewhat helpful. Don't blame me if you now have a long list of beauty bits that you want to buy though - oops!

Let me know what you think in the comments below and make sure to tweet me a picture if you decided to recreate this look. If you would like to see what Eleanor's makeup of the month is, then go on over and check it out http://www.eleanorclaudie.com/ and give her other posts a little read whilst you're at it too!
