Monthly Memories: January

I don't know about you, but I usually class January as my 'detox month'. It marks the beginning of a brand new year, and I feel that means that it's time to set goals for the following 12 months that are ahead, and to reflect on everything that has happened during the previous year.

Normally for these 'Monthly Memories' posts, I would be sharing all of the special, happy moments that I've experienced, and all of the magical memories that I have created throughout that particular month, but seeing as I haven't done that much throughout January, I thought I'd just make this one more of an update.

I'd firstly just like to say thank you so much for 1,000 followers on Instagram (30th Jan 2016), and 100 followers on Bloglovin (31st January 2016). Every single one of you who followers my Instagram, and my blog means so much to me, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

I've actually been really busy at school recently. I had Parents Evening a week, or so ago, and it went very well. All of my teachers seemed to have positive things to say about my attitude, and about the content of the work that I'm producing, and that made me feel really pleased with myself, and also proud that I've been able to continue producing my work to the high standards that I would like. It isn't always easy, as there is so much to get through for so many topics during Year 10, but I do enjoy the subjects that I picked, and I do feel that they are all helping with my independence, and my self-belief greatly.
The running theme was actually that I do need to have more faith, and confidence within myself, and that is something that I'd like to work on throughout this year as a whole.
I'm usually perfectly capable of doing things, but I'm quick to doubt myself, when most of the time, I'm doing fine, and I just need to remind myself that I know what I'm doing.

Alongside that, I'd like to work on gaining more confidence within my social life too. I think that I have naturally always come across as quite a shy, reserved person, ever since I was a little girl, but I'd like to try, and challenge that, so I can become more involved within social groups, and interactive activities. I'm not alone, because I do have some wonderful, supportive friends, and a loving family, but I often convince myself that I'm lonely, because I surround myself in a 'shell of isolation', which is unnecessary, and it doesn't do any good either. Having said that, I'm definitely going to make sure that I'm a lot more conscious, and wary when it comes to opening up to others this year, as I don't wish for anyone else to betray, or abuse my trust, and I do feel like isolation can be appropriate sometimes, as it goes to show that those who care enough for you will break down the walls that you have so firmly built up around you.

I completely understand, and respect the fact that I probably don't know many of you on a personal level, but I will always be here if any of you need someone to talk to. It can be so easy to become trapped in such negative, upsetting mind-sets, and once you are in that state, it can become so difficult to get out of it, but it is possible. I know it is, and I believe in each, and every single one of you. If you feel like you don't have anywhere to turn, then I'm always happy to have a chat, or a heart to heart, however deep it gets.
I would never share any of your information, or personal stories with anybody else, and although I'm no professional, and I'm in no way qualified, I have learnt a lot from personal experience, and from experiences that my loved ones have dealt with, so I will try my best to help your situation in some way. You can either contact me through email (simplyjadey.advice@gmail.com), or you can contact me on Instagram through direct message (jademillard_). I'm always checking my email, and I will reply within a couple of hours, depending on how busy I am, and I'm also always on Instagram, and will also reply on there within a couple of hours. I would find it easier to email, but it depends on what suits you, and what is easier for you too. I often have free times during the evenings, so I will reply in bulks then, if anybody even contacts me that is! If any of you would be interested, we can be like pen pals, but through email. It's a nice way to get to know some of you individually, if that's the sort of thing that you would like to do.
I just want you all to know that as much as I blog about all sorts, and I often just write for all of you to read, I am here to talk to, and get to know on a friendlier level too!

I'm not too sure about what else to say for this post, so I might just round it up here.

Before I go, I just wanted to say that I will be writing more over the next few weeks, and months, and so I'm going to be sharing some more of my work in that aspect, and I also intend on sharing more photos, rather than just talking, and reviewing things all of the time. If any of you have any particular requests, then please do get in touch, and let me know. I love reading the comments that I get, when I do get them, and I always reply within a few hours, so if ever you do want to comment, then you should, as it always puts a smile on my face, and I love to hear from people that actually do read my posts!

I hope you're all having a lovely week, and I hope that the upcoming one is just as good to you.

Lots of love,

Jade x

Review: Garnier Miscellar Cleansing Water

How many of you have heard about this particular cleansing water before? I bet that the majority of you have, right? If you have in fact been living under a rock for the past couple of months, then you are in luck, as today this is exactly what I'm going to be talking about.

Most teenage girls nowadays wear makeup on their face, eyes, and lips. Some wear more than others, and some don't wear any at all, but for those who do wear makeup regularly, it can be really difficult to find a makeup remover that is effective enough, yet affordable enough at the same time. I don't know about you, but I have tried many different products for my skin over the past few months. Makeup removers, eye makeup removers, lotions that help to remove makeup, toners.. The list really does go on. I have tried pretty much every product under the sun, and I was still being left with traces of makeup, dirt, and irritated skin from the array that I was testing out. It really wasn't doing me, or my skin any good at all, and I was just throwing more money down the drain.

That's when I came across the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. What an absolute beauty. It has literally become such a huge part of my skincare routine now (more to follow on that at a later date), and I can't really believe that I went for so long without it. I have actually got the smaller bottle, which is 125ml, but as I received two of them for Christmas that means I actually have 250ml of the product as a whole, and the large bottle is 400ml in total, which is actually really good. You can get it from anywhere - Tesco, Asda, Superdrug, Boots, Feel Unique, and even Amazon, or Ebay! The large bottle (400ml) is £3.33 on the Boots website at the moment, but it's usually £4.99 from Boots, and Superdrug, to my knowledge. The smaller bottle (which I have pictured above) is currently £1, but it's usually £1.99. You can't beat that, can you?! I mean, seriously!

I actually have pretty sensitive skin, and I always feel quite wary when trying out new skincare products, but actually, this makeup remover from Garnier has began a total staple in my skincare regime. I usually just dampen a cotton pad with a small amount, and then I swipe it all over my face, eyes, and lips. I must admit that as much as I'm raving about this cleanser, it can hurt my eyes quite a bit. I do have sensitive eyes as it is, and so maybe I would be better using the cleanser water with the green cap, which is actually targeted towards sensitive skin, but I actually don't find it a problem. It just stings a little bit painfully, but it removes all of the makeup, and it doesn't irritate my skin, or cause any redness, or flakiness, so I don't really have any complains, as there are more positives than negatives. It is extremely effective at removing any traces of makeup, it doesn't leave your skin feeling grimy, or dry, it's easy to use, and a mini size is available. I would recommend that you try both this version out, and the other one for sensitive skin, but it all depends on what your skin type is in general.
Overall, if you are one of those people who have literally been hibernating for the past few months, then do go, and give this product a go. I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.

Lots of love,

Jade x

Comfortable Yet Chilled

Cropped Jumper - New Look / Harem Trousers - Majorca / Chelsea Boots - Primark / Scarf - New Look

Today, I decided to make an effort to get dressed up for a fashion post. It's a little long awaited after all, don't you think? I'm aware that I'm not the most amazing model, but then again, I don't need to be! I just enjoy putting pictures up of what I'm wearing, because, believe it or not, I'm actually quite into fashion and styling and I find it really enjoyable actually. I do apologise though, because I have no idea where I got my necklace from, as I think it was on eBay ages ago, and I also got my trousers when I was on holiday back in the summer. I will try to include more readily available pieces in the future!

Lots of love,

Things I've Learnt Since I Began Blogging

I just wanted to start off this post by explaining why I have been a little bit MIA over the last week or so. I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but I'm in Year 10 at school, which means that I'm currently going through the process of my GCSE's. I'm not actually sitting them until next year, and so I'm not as busy as I will be then, but sometimes things do get a bit overwhelming, particularly as you work your way through into the upper years of the school. I've only recently come back from the Christmas break, and I had parents evening yesterday, so I've been working on improving my attitude to some lessons, and making sure that I have been revising for the exams that I have just had (I actually just had one today as you're reading this!). I have actually been really motivated to blog ever since I got my new layout, but I honestly just haven't been feeling it over the past few days, as I've been quite busy, and the time I have had off, I've been wanting to rest.
I'm going to try my best to start blogging more consistently again, but these things are bound to happen sometimes, and that's just part of being a regular human being!

Anyway, let's get on with the whole purpose of the post now..

1. Blog about the things that you are passionate about.
2. Don't always force yourself to stick to a certain schedule.
3. Everyone has their own niche - that's just what makes your blog more unique.
4. As hard as it is, don't compare yourself to other bloggers - ever.
5. Don't ever try to force yourself to write a post. If it doesn't come naturally, leave it!
6. Make sure that your personality shines through in as many of your posts as possible.

I just wanted to do a short blog post today to help myself get back into it. I know I've only missed 2 posts throughout my weekly schedule, and as I say, you shouldn't force yourself to stick to a certain schedule, but knowing that I have school work, a social life, and all of those other commitments as well, I do feel better knowing that I plan out my blog posts down to a T, so that I can schedule them, and ensure that they go up on time. Blogging is, and always will be a huge passion of mine, and I will never not want to take photographs, or write up posts, or think of ideas. To me, it isn't all about the followers, or the number of views, or comments. To me, it's about how many lives I have impacted, or how many people I have helped, and made smile through just one post. Of course, it's really nice, and rewarding to know that people are so interested in my blog, and it's lovely to know that people are constantly keeping their eyes out to see when I post next, but it really isn't just about the numbers to me. I won't just sit, and write a blog post for the sake of it. It takes me at least a couple of hours, if not days, or weeks to plan a blog post. Sometimes, like today's, I do just sit down a couple of days, or nights before to write, if I feel like I want to, but I don't necessarily know what to write about. I do have a huge variety of ideas that I want to get working on, but I hope that you do appreciate how much time goes into every post. I can assure you that I do, and always will try my best. Thank you to each, and everyone of you for sticking by me. It really does mean a lot.

Lots of love,

Jade x

5 Ways To Make Yourself Feel Better

Within today's society, we have all become so wrapped up in our everyday lives, and what's going on either around us, or on the internet that we forget to take time out to make ourselves feel better. So many people battle with mental illnesses, and feelings of very little self-esteem, or confidence, so I thought that I should do this post to try, and help some of you who are struggling, as my way of reaching out.

It's so important that we all take a little time out every once in a while, and put our emotional wellbeing first, as it can really make such a massive impact to the way we feel. I tend to struggle with finding ways to make myself feel better when I'm going through a particularly low, or self-conscious stage, and so I thought that as well as hopefully helping some of you, I can also help myself in the process. These are just a few little tips that I'm going to be talking about today, but I hope that you find them helpful none-the-less!

1. Have a pamper evening - I don't just mean have a bath, and maybe put on a face mask. I mean, literally full on pamper yourself! Have a really bubbly bath (using a Lush product, of course!), light some candles, put on a face mask, a hair mask, exfoliate your skin, and body, have a mug of hot chocolate, with marshmallows, and wiped cream, and allow yourself to completely unwind. Read a book, or watch some movies under a bunch of blankets, draw, paint, write some blog posts. Just do whatever you want that helps you to forget about anything else going on, and focus on that particular moment. You could even try some yoga, meditation, or even mindfulness if you really felt that you wanted to!

2. Spend time doing what you enjoy - Whether it's photography, baking, reading, singing, or something else. It's important to spend time doing the things that you enjoy, and the things that make you happy. I really enjoy baking, reading, photography, and writing whenever I have some time to myself (I love singing too, but I do that whenever!), and I find that doing all of those things make me feel relaxed, and happy, so that's why I try to do them when I need time to unwind. You could try to do each thing once a week, or at least once every month. Then follow up with a pamper evening. What a perfect plan!

3. Go outdoors a little more often - Going outdoors to get some fresh air is always a really beneficial option, particularly if you have a lot on your mind. As I'm sure most of you know, I'm a really keen photographer, and I always take whatever opportunity I get. Sometimes all you need is a casual stroll to clear your mind, and get some fresh air. You would be surprised at how much of a difference it can make to your emotional wellbeing.

4. Surround yourself with the people who make you feel happy - Even though the main post of this post is targeted at how to make yourself feel better, I also believe that it's important to surround yourself with positive, uplifting people, who support you, and your decisions. If you allow yourself to associate with toxic, harmful people, then you will end up harming yourself more than you realise in the long run.

5. Put yourself first, always - Leading on from my previous point, it's important that you always put yourself first, regardless of what's going on in your life. If something, or someone makes you unhappy, then cut it, or them off. You have to do what you want, and what's best for you. At the end of the day, you are the one who has your own back, and it's vital that you focus on the person that you truly are, so you can avoid getting hurt. Don't allow people to make you feel worthless, or upset. Follow your dreams, and do whatever it takes to build an amazing life for yourself. Dream. Believe. Achieve.

I really hope that this post helped some of you in some way. Let me know what you think, and if you have any more requests, and I shall see if I can do them for you!

Lots of love,

Reflection Of The Past II

Back at the beginning of August, I did quite a sporadic post, where I went through the first 6 months of the year, and I shared precious photographs with all of you, hoping that you would be able to get a better insight into what I get up to when I'm not blogging. As I said back then, I'm really into photography, and whenever I see something that looks as though it could have a story behind it, or something happens that I feel I may be able to talk about, such as a memory, or if a particular message is arisen in whatever the situation may be, I like to be able to look back on these things, and talk about them. I originally said that I would do an updated roundup post back in December, but I already had all my posts scheduled, and I feel that it's more appropriate now that we are into the new year. I hope you enjoy seeing more of my memories from the past few months! I'm not going to be writing which photo was taken in which month, as quite honestly, it's a mixture from the entire year, but I thought I'd do it anyway, before we're well into 2016, and I have to start capturing memories from this year! Anyway, enjoy..

A Few New Beauty Bits

Since Christmas has just been, and gone, I've received some lovely beauty products as gifts, and I've also been able to treat myself to a few new things with some of the money that I received off of my loved ones. I didn't want to do the typical 'What I Got For Christmas' post, although many people have done both videos on YouTube, and blog posts in that style that I have watched, and read, I just didn't feel it was personally the right decision for me. However, having said that, I am incredibly grateful for everything that I received off my family, and my friends, and I'm also very pleased with the new beauty bits that I bought, and so I thought it'd be a nice idea for me to share them all with you.

The first beauty gift that I knew I was going to be receiving is the Vera Wang Princess perfume. I have had my eye on this fragrance for quite a while now, but I wanted to wait until Christmas, as stores normally have more expensive products on sale during that time, and I wanted to make sure that I had read all of the reviews, smelt it in the perfume shop, and used up some of my other fragrances first. Even though I had picked it out myself, I was still in awe when I opened the box to reveal this stunning bottle design. I think it's the sweetest idea that the packaging fits with the name, because it really does look so much more expensive. I have it placed on my dressing table, where I do my makeup every morning, and it really does make a girl feel ever so classy, and elegant. I love how the bottle is shaped as a heart, and the lid is literally like a diamond encrusted crown. The lilac colour of the liquid is also lovely, because it gives the scent a much lighter, girly feel about it, perfect for any female. It smells absolutely insane as well. I'm terrible at describing what perfumes smell like, so I'm going to take a little description off the internet; ' It evokes everything from the magical and the mystical, to the fearless and the fascinating - dare to claim the Princess in you. Radiant and whimsical, Vera Wang Princess is a sheer, fruity floral – rich with vanilla and brimming with exotic flowers and succulent fruits. Princess is an enchanting celebration of modern femininity.

Another beauty product that I had asked for was the No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser. I had initially been looking online for some new skincare bits, as I want to look after my skin properly this year, and I came across this one by No7, read some reviews (of course), and then I decided that this would be the best choice. I had also heard about the No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush, which is a battery-powered facial brush, and I decided that the two would go perfectly together for use in the evening in order to exfoliate, and cleanse my skin effectively. I also thought that it was a good choice to try out this cleanser, because it's for normal/oily skin, and I can get quite oily skin, but I figured that it's called a foaming cleanser for a reason, hence why I wanted to give it a whirl.

I apologise that this photo is quite a blurry one, but taking a picture of a facial brush when you aren't particularly talented when it comes to angles isn't the easiest of tasks! As I was saying when I was talking about the foaming cleanser, I thought that this facial brush would be exactly what I was looking for. It's battery-operated, as I mentioned, and there are 2 settings, one quite intense, and fast, and one less intense, and slower, which is the one that I use, and the idea is that you apply your cleanser as normal to your face, then you wet the brush head (without switching it on) and then press the button to whichever setting you prefer, and then work the brush in circular motions around your face, focusing on your typical 'problem' areas, such as the forehead, cheeks, and chin for about 30 seconds, then you wash the cleanser away with warm water. It was originally £24.95, but it's currently available for £15 either on the Boots website, or in store.

Over the past few months, everyone, and their sister have been talking about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, and so naturally that meant I was dying to try it out for myself! I used to be terrible when it came to removing my makeup, particularly mascara, or eye products, and I could never be bothered to take it off, let alone cleanse my face, and I really did regret it every time I made that stupid decision, because my skin would always break out, and it would feel so dirty, and clogged up with grime that it would leave me wishing I had done something sooner. This is why I was so grateful when I received this cleansing water. Often, people rave about things in the blogging, and YouTube world, and sometimes you don't know whether you're going to love it, or hate it, but I knew that I had to try this product out to see if it worked. It comes in really cute, travel-friendly packaging, as it's the smaller size, and it's perfect that it states it's for sensitive skin, because quite a few skincare products irritate me, but if it's for sensitive skin, it won't!

A little while ago, I received my first product from Dermatologica, which was the sheer tinted moisturiser, and I now have added the skin smoothing cream aka the moisturiser to my collection. Although quite expensive, Dermatologica is actually one of the best skincare brands, and everything is formulated to ensure that your skin is treated properly without causing any harm, or harsh chemicals to ruin it, or dry it out. Despite the fact that I have only 2 products from the brand, the quality of the products makes up for it. I'm pretty sure that this is going to be yet another staple in my skincare routine this year.

Something that I picked up myself on a whim was the Seventeen Stay Time Concealer. Having never previously tried anything from Seventeen, I was curious to pick it up, and see what it was like, as once again, I have heard quite a lot of people raving about it recently. I needed a new concealer anyway, as my Collection Lasting Perfection one was drastically running out, and seeing as this one was around the same price range, I thought that I'd pick it up, and see what it was like for myself. It claims to stay for up to 18 hours, but unless you're someone who is literally nocturnal, I don't really think anyone can comment on whether these claims are true, or not! I mainly apply concealer under my eyes, and onto any pesky blemishes that I may have at the time, so as long as it can cover up my dark under eye bags, and reduce the appearance of spots, then it's a win for me.

Having tried out a Kate Moss lipstick by Rimmel previously in the summer, I thought I'd step away from the coral shades, and opt for more of an everyday nude for those more casual days. My sister has this lipstick, which is in the shade 03, and after trying it out, I thought that I'd buy it for myself. The packaging is really sleek, and classy, and I also like how Kate's signature is on the lid - cute! I already have some other Rimmel products in my collection, and I'd quite like to introduce a new beauty series into my blog at same point this year, focusing on specific brands, and the products that they have available. So, first I need to accumulate enough products to be able to do so, and I figured I may start with Rimmel. Let me know if that's something that would interest any of you, or if you have any Rimmel recommendations! Any excuse for me to buy new makeup! ;)

I did also pick up a few other little bits, clothing as well, but I thought that this post has been long enough for today, as I do tend to ramble quite a lot. I hope you're all having a fabulous 2016 so far. Have you noticed the new layout that I had designed for my blog? I think it looks so much classier, and more sophisticated! I love it! Let me know your thoughts, and also please let me know if you have any requests for upcoming posts!

Lots of love,

Let's All Welcome 2016!

As another year comes to an end, it's time for us all to welcome 2016 with open arms.
Even though 2015 was an incredible year, filled with many high points, it was also an extremely difficult, challenging one to say the least, so I'm looking forward to see what the next 12 months have to offer. I also get incredibly sentimental, and reflective during this time, because as much as it's a great reason to look back on the year that has just passed, it's also equally as important to look ahead, and focus on making even better plans that will ensure that this year truly is your year.

The thing is, there will always be ups, and downs throughout life. That's just something that everybody has to deal with. However, too often we can find ourselves dwelling on those dark days that we simply don't manage to create plans for future positive days. I wouldn't say that I necessarily have many plans that are set in stone for 2016, but I do have quite a few goals, and ideas in mind. If you would like to see what some of my highlights were from last year, and what some of my ambitions are for this upcoming year, then you can read here to find out more. I just really want 2016 to be the year that is the most rewarding, and successful for me, and I also want to improve myself as a person. I don't mean to say that in a completely dramatic, cliché way, but it's the truth.
During 2015, I wouldn't say that I was as focused on myself, and my achievements, and my wellbeing as much as I think I should have been. This year, I want to be able to create better content for my blog, and to be able to up my photography game, and the interaction level with all of you, but I also want to be able to put a lot of effort into my studies, and into creating stronger friendships, and relationships with the people around me. Of course, I want to be able to do the things that I enjoy too, and I want to try and relax, and experience new things as often as I can, but all too often, I get caught up in everyday life, and I forgot to take a step back, and actually relax with time to myself.

I've decided that this year is going to be a year for me. I'm going to do what I love to do, (don't worry, that includes blogging, of course!) and I'm not going to let anyone, or anything hold me back. Not even myself. I'm going to let go of the past, and focus on the present, whilst looking towards the future. I wish you all the best of luck, and I shall see you very soon. Please let me know what blog posts are your favourite to read as well! I'm going to be doing a mixture of music, photography, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and maybe even a little baking, and other new things, but I'd like to know what your favourite type is.

Thank you so much for all of the support, and love throughout 2015. Bring on 2016!

Lots of love,

Jade x
