It's Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

I don't know about any of you, but Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year. I genuinely couldn't think of any festivity, or event that could even come close in comparison. I could literally talk about it forever, possibly until we reach next Christmas, but I thought that seeing as it's Christmas Day itself, not only have I surprised you with my 3rd post of the week, but I'm also writing a themed post to tie in with the excitement, and so what better themed post to do than to list all of the things I love about the event itself. This could be quite a rambly list, so I'd get comfortable if I were you!
1. Hot chocolate with mini marshmallows on top - The way I see it, you're either a hot chocolate lover, a tea lover, or a coffee lover. I've never really been a particularly huge fan of coffee, as the one time that I tried it when I was younger, it kind of put me off, I guess. I'm yet to try it again, but I may change my mind within the future. Ever since I've been little, I've been drinking tea. My whole family are avid tea lovers, and I've always included myself into that category for as long as I can remember. However, over the past few years, I've been spending more time at home, rather than at my grandparents, due to school commitments, and because all of my stuff is here, and I have since converted to preferring hot chocolate. In previous winters, I would usually have a mug of hot chocolate in the morning before school, and I'd also have a mug after school, and occasionally before bed too. As it edged towards summer, I guess I kind of went off of it, but over the past few months, I have gotten back into it again. I managed to convince my mum to pick me up some mini marshmallows (just the white, and pastel pink ones), and I have this tall glass, so my mum makes the hot chocolate itself, and then she adds some whipped cream, and a selection of mini marshmallows on the top of the cream. That, my friends, is when you know it's beginning to feel a lot more like Christmas.
2. Snuggling up to watch Christmas films - Nothing beats a Christmas film in December, does it? Some of my personal favourites are Elf, Home Alone, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Polar Express. They are just classics to me, and whenever I watch them, they make me feel all warm, and fuzzy inside, because it means that Christmas is coming, and that means that things can only get more festive, and positive from that point onwards. The whole situation becomes a whole lot better if I have a hot chocolate with mini marshmallows on top WHILST watching one of the selected Christmas films!
3. Giving, and receiving presents - Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the giving, and receiving of gifts. As much as we all love to receive them, I don't think it would be as special if we didn't give back to people too. This year, I really have gone all out in terms of giving to others. I had all of my presents wrapped by the time we had reached the end of November, and I also put a hell of a lot of thought into each gift for each individual, but I only did that, because I wanted to repay those who mean the most to me. It's one of the ways that I can say thank you for everything they have done for me during the year that we're soon to say goodbye to. Quite often, we can lose appreciation for that people that we should actually be appreciating the most, and as Christmas is all about spending quality time with loved ones, and sharing special treats with all of them, it's the most appropriate time to show some much-needed appreciation. As I said, I love giving gifts to people that I know truly deserve it, and I love to be able to make them happy, so they feel that people care about them, and treasure them as a person. Having said that, I really do love receiving gifts off of my loved ones too - I would be lying if I denied that fact! I'm honestly such a little kid at heart. I always sit underneath the tree with my mum, and sometimes my stepdad if he wants to come downstairs, and try to imagine what the gift is, and then I always tear it open, and I just get so, so happy seeing what someone I love has picked out for me. I love being able to see the thought that goes behind everything. It makes the whole experience so, so special, and memorable.
4. Seeing all of the decorations - Every time I'm in the car, or I'm passing someone's house, I always look in to see what decorations they have up, if any. I can usually see the wreaths hanging up on the door, Santa's, and Snowmen, and Reindeers standing up on the driveway, lights entwined all around the trees, and bushes, and all the pretty Christmas trees in the window. I honestly love it so much. It really brightens up the whole street, and it puts everyone in the festive spirit too. Some people really do go all out, and I think that's incredible, but then those who don't put up anything at all, they almost let down the whole street in a way, because it just ruins the atmosphere!
5. Listening to festive songs - Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't everybody love a festive song? (I didn't even mean to rhyme there!) When they start to come on the radio more regularly, that's how you know that Christmas really is just around the corner. I think that every Christmas song is a classic, because let's face it, it just makes the whole build-up a lot more exciting. Some of my personal festive faves are 'Fairytale Of New York', 'All I Want For Christmas Is You', 'Christmas - Baby, Please Come Home', and 'Do They Know It's Christmas'. Most of the time, I don't think I even know what the songs are called, but I know that I love them, and they make me feel all warm inside around this time of year, so that's all that matters!
6. Spending time with my loved ones - I think that it's important to spend time with your loved ones whenever you can, and not just at Christmas, but even more so during this time of the year. Christmas Day is the day for all the family to come together, and have a laugh, enjoy each other's company, eat for too much food, and give, and receive tonnes of presents. My family usually all do their own thing for a bit, and then we all come together in the living room for presents, and talking, and eating a few sweet treats, and then we all have dinner together, and pull the crackers, and have wine (not too much for me, as I'm underage, but I'm allowed if it's a special occasion!), and then we just relax, and watch television, and chat, and just generally have a lovely time. I also love going out shopping with my loved ones at this time of year, either shopping, to Winter Wonderland (that's what me, and my sister did last year), or to Costa for a hot chocolate, and some food! It's such a lovely atmosphere during this time of the year, and I love making the most of it, because it really is the most wonderful time of the year.
I hope you all have an absolutely incredibly Christmas, and make sure that you spend it with those you love, and care about the most. I'm sending you all the very best of wishes, and I hope you all give, and receive some beautiful gifts!
Lots of love,
Jade x
